Outside Plant is defined as the portion of a telecommunications network that includes all the cables, conduits, ducts, poles, towers, repeaters, repeater huts, and other equipment located between a demarcation point in one switching facility and a demarcation point in another switching facility, or customer premises. Simply put, this is the portion of a telecommunications network that resides out-of-doors, connecting the end-user with the outside world.

Most outside plant applications require cabling, enclosures, optical nodes or distribution points, to withstand numerous adverse circumstances directly related to the surroundings. Outside plant products must be designed to perform the same function as their industry standard counterparts, with additional protection or ruggedness, to reduce the failure risk while in service.

Valdor supplies a range of semi-harsh environment and crush resistant products meant for outside plant application.
